Welcome to my history... made just for you.... to read about my memories of some significantly happy years doing Historical Re-enactment in Rawdon's Regiment, within the English Civil War Society.
This is not a "proper" blog, it won't get updated every day, it's simply a place for me to put these memories and photos, before they get lost forever.
Over the years I have pruned my old photos, and pruned again, until there are only a handful left.
Now that we have the internet, it seemed a good time to scan the few remaining ones, before they get pruned out of existence.
So you'll have to accept my apologies for the quality, and for the small quantity, this is all I have!
It made rather a long page, so I've broken it down roughly by type, with a little bit of overlap, to make it easier to read.
Use the tabs above to browse: "How it all began" contains a roughly chronological record of my early years in the Regiment; Living History is a short essay on that subject, as done by us; Holidays is what it says, while Algy in Luuurrve, ha ha, dare you have a look in that one?? What if you find yourself there? What if you don't???
(*faint "mwaaah haaa haaaa" to be heard, far off in the distance*)
One word about the apostrophe: is it "Rawdons" or "Rawdon's" ?
The answer is, it depends on the context. We were Sir Marmaduke Rawdon's Regiment, ie the Regiment belonging to Rawdon. So if I am referring to us as a regimental entity, in goes the apostrophe.
However, one of us is A Rawdon, and when you get two or more of us together, we are Rawdons, plural.
I do hope that all is clear now! ("oh god I've turned into Val Skipper, again!")
Finally, the disclaimer: Everything on these pages is mine, including all comments, opinions, speeling mistooks, etc: I sincerely hope that I haven't offended anyone by inclusion or by leaving them out: if I have inadvertently made a comment about you that you don't like, just email me at Algy.of.Rawdons@gmail.com and I'll remove it.
Eventually.
